2015, the year of the kalette?

Another year, another influx of 2015 trend reports and predictions. Jumping on the bandwagon, as ever, here’s my top picks of the lot.

The new Nigella Anna JonesAnna Jones, tipped as the ‘new Nigella’, is set to take the UK by storm in 2015, with her super on-trend vegetarian cookbook A Modern Way to Eat.

Normcore Ceral-Killers-Pics2Introducing ‘normcore’ food – making normal food cool. The bearded twins behind Cereal Killer Cafe, who brought cereal to the top of the news agenda in late-2014, are on to a winner.

Insta-fluencers UnknownThe food blogger is dead. Well, not literally, but the hot new influencers who will be making waves in 2015 will be prolific food shares on social media sites…enter, Clerkenwell Boy.

Drink birch Byrozavik-4-side-view-05_all-1024x899Put down your coconut water. 2015 is the year of Birch. Packed with nutrients & amino acids, it’s what healthistas will be clamouring for post-yoga.

Boil your bones Unknown-1Follow the advice of my favourite sister act, Hemsley + Hemsley, and boil your bones! Use the nutritionally rich liquid to cook vegetables, risotto and casseroles.

Kale’s out OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAIf 2014 was the year of kale, 2015 is the year of the humble cauliflower. Grilled, mashed or pickled – just make sure you’re getting some.

Veg is centre stage ugly_carrots2014 saw vegetables taking centre stage on the plate. 2015 will take veg-loving to a new level, from developing hybrid vegetables like kalettes (kale X brussels sprouts), to fermentation (kimchi, sauerkraut etc) and embracing the ugliest of varieties.
